International Studies PhD Workshop

The Standing Group of International Relations (SGRI) of the Italian Political Science Association, with the support of the European Consortium on Political Research (ECPR), has organised an International Studies PhD Workshop at the University of Parma, Italy.

The workshop will bring together PhD students from across Italy and Europe, offering a unique platform to present their research to and receive constructive feedback and guidance from early career and senior scholars in their respective fields.

The workshop will take place on 19 June 2024. It will precede the annual two-day conference of the SGRI, organised at the Department of Law, Politics and International Studies of the University of Parma (June 20-21). Participants in the PhD workshop will be granted free access to the SGRI conference.

The workshop is tailored for PhD candidates, who are working on or completing their dissertation proposals, chapters of their theses, or other scientific work such as book chapters and journal articles.

Participants will make short presentations on their research topics, which will then be commented upon in ninety-minute sessions by senior scholars and during a Q&A with peers. PhD students will have the outstanding opportunity to have their own research discussed, and to see and comment on what others are doing. Participants will emerge with stronger, more focused research drafts, and wider professional networks.

10 scholarships worth 200 euros will be allocated on a competitive basis, to the benefit of those PhD students who cannot enjoy financial support by their home institutions. In any case, transport and accommodation will have to be arranged by the participants themselves.

Perspective participants should apply by filling out this online form by 10 April 2024. Up to 25 PhD students will be selected for the workshop. The selection process will ensure scientific pluralism and inclusiveness.

Results will be communicated via email by April 24, 2024.
