From Parma (2004) to Parma (2024): SGRI at Twenty

In 2024, SGRI celebrates its 20th anniversary!

The Standing Group on International Relations (SGRI) of the Italian Society of Political Science (SISP) was created in Parma in 2004, following a proposal by Luigi Bonanate, Umberto Gori, Fulvio Attinà, Luciano Bardi and Filippo Andreatta. This followed a decision taken by SISP in 2003, which aimed at creating thematic groups inside the Association to provide a means of collaboration between scholars specializing in the same research area.

Since then, SGRI’s main goal has been to encourage the study of international politics from a political science perspective, especially with regards to young scholars, and to international politics-related research projects, stimulating links and contacts among researchers working on these topics.

In twenty years, SGRI has played a key role in fostering scientific research on international politics issues in Italy, organizing Conferences, Webinars and Panels within the SISP annual Conference.

SGRI Conferences:

In twenty years, SGRI has organized 16 annual conferences (including the 2021 Conference, held online as a webinar series) in Parma (2004), Bologna (2006), Bertinoro (2008), Milan (2009), Trento (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019), Bologna (2018), Perugia (2022) and Catania (2023).
